Essay skills: go through the essay skill section and ensure you understand how to write a high – level analytical paragraph as this is important to improve any grade.
Revision section: think of which course you’re going to tackle first, visit the revision section and see the ‘how to write notes’ section. Find the course you’re going to study and find out how to write the best notes before you begin to study.
Choose your course: choose the course you’re weakest in. If it is literature or language, use the prompts below.

Summaries: start by reading the summaries of each text to ensure you understand the plot
Context: watch/ read the context lessons and quiz yourself on the knowledge
Weakest character/ section: pick the character/ area you are weakest on in that course and work through the video/documents/ quizzes
Pick second weakest character/ section: repeat the same as above
Read the grade 9 vocabulary: now you’re familiar with your weaker areas, read through the grade 9 vocab sheets and see if you can begin to apply some of these words into your analysis/ notes
Complete Course: continue to work through other parts of the course
Model essays: read through the model essays to see an example of how to apply what you’re learning
Practice questions: attempt some practice questions
Other sections: complete the sections in the course you haven’t yet
Continuous learning: even when completed, revisit notes and re-take quizzes to refresh your memory
Technique sheets: become familiar with a range of language and structure techniques from our technique sheets. These are important as you have to pick them out from memory in the language papers
Question 5: start with revising question 5’s for both papers. These are worth half the marks on each paper, so the most time should be dedicated to perfecting these.
Practice: after you’ve completed question 5, begin to practice past paper questions as provided
Grade 9 examples: compare your work to the grade 9 examples provided to see how you can improve
Reverse order: then work your way backwards through the paper. Go onto question 4 (second most important question in both papers) and then practice.
Repeat: do that with all the other questions
GCSE Texts: for the key GCSE texts, this can be used for all exam boards. The grade 9 analysis, sentence starters, key words and more can be used for all
English Language: for language, it is based around the AQA exam board but the tips for creative and transactional writing can be used for all
Revision: this can be used for all exam boards as it teaches all students who to write notes for each course and how to revise them (you can even use the revision techniques taught to help with other subjects too!)
